Western Sahara for the true desert adventurer, explore the vast empty desert landscapes of this part of Morocco.
Heading down the Atlantic Coast towards Tantan the route takes us along Plage Blanche. From here the route heads inland and south . On route to Smara we pass remnants from desert conflicts and cross dry lakes reminiscent of the Bonneville Salt Flats. After a stop in Smara to stock up with food and fuel we head deeper into the remote wilderness of the Western Sahara.
The next few days will show just how remote this area is, its possible that no signs of human life will be seen. As we get closer to the coast again the flat desert landscapes gives way to small hills and salt pans. Arriving back into civilisation to refuel, the route turns back north along the desolate ship wreck littered coast as we start to head back towards Europe.
The final sections of this tour wind up through the Anti Atlas mountains and then over the High Atlas before finishing in Agadir for some well deserved luxury and sight seeing.
This tour is very remote with long distances and driving hours. The majority of the time will be spent wild camping or in basic campsites. Vehicles will need a range of 750km to cover the longest section between fuel stops.
